We all love our dogs. Some love them more than their fellow humans, and it is not difficult at all to see why that is. Hence, it is natural to ask and ponder upon why we have to separate so early with our canine companions? We all want to know why they die so young!

It seems cruel after all why is it that we have to separate with dogs so early? This 6-year-old has the perfect answer to it all!

We came across a story of a veterinarian who was called to examine a 10-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. Ron and Lisa as well as their son Shane were really attached to Belker who was unfortunately dying of cancer and there was nothing that could be done for the dog. As such, euthanasia procedure was inevitable.

As they were preparing for the procedure, Ron and Lisa asked if their son Shane could be there for the procedure, as it might help him grow up and he might learn something in the long run.

The next day, Ron, Lisa, and Shane were all there to wait for the procedure. Shane seemed so calm throughout the whole procedure that it made people around him wonder whether he is even grasping what is going on. After Belker’s passing, they all stood there, wondering why is it that dogs have shorter life spans. Shane had been listening when he said “I know why!”

They all turned toward Shane to see what he had to say on the matter. What came out of the little guy’s mouth was truly moving and heart-warming.

“People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right? Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay for as long as we do” Shane said.

How beautiful and goose-bumping is that? The little boy saw the death of his dog from such a poetic and philosophical point of view. It makes us wonder that perhaps us too should enjoy life to the fullest and show more love and compassion toward fellow human beings.
